Description
NO TOXIC ALUMINIUM ETCHING
Tutor: Penny Brewill
Saturday 18th February 2023
10AM to 4PM
£140.00 – 6 places
Suitable for: Beginners
In this workshop Penny Brewill will share the process of etching aluminium metal plates with copper sulphate. A copper sulphate, salt and water solution provides a low-toxic environment to etch aluminium plates – a safer and more accessible alternative to ferric and nitric acid solutions used for etching zinc and copper plates. The process allows for a greater range of mark making including fine line drawing to expressive, painterly textures.
You will learn how to prepare your aluminium plates, achieve different marks and lines, apply your drawing to the plate, etch, then print, intaglio style, with an etching press.
This is an ideal course for those wishing to become a member of Seacourt Print Workshop. As a pathway to membership, a participant can then go on to complete their membership 1-1 session to ensure absolute confidence to work without assistance.
A full set of notes will be provided, that you can annotate yourself along the course duration.
