International mini print biennial – NEW DEADLINE
Seacourt Print Workshop's International Mini Print Biennial 2020
DUE TO COVID-19 CLOSURE WE HAVE EXTENDED OUR DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS TO THIS YEAR’S BIENNIAL UNTIL MONDAY 21ST SEPTEMBER.
OUR EXHIBITION IS ALSO EXTENDED AND WILL RUN FROM SATURDAY 26TH SEPTEMBER UNTIL FRIDAY 6TH NOVEMBER.
At Seacourt, The Centre for Contemporary Printmaking, we are delighted with the huge response to our Mini Print Biennial 2018. The exhibition showcases the work of 140 artists from over 30 countries displaying a wide range of printmaking techniques and exceptional printmaking skills. An exhibition not to be missed.

Reis Turnbull
‘Culture Collection’
Reis was born in Bangor, UK. She has recently graduated with a BA Hons Degree in Fine Art Printmaking.
Reis is a multidisciplinary artist, she uses the tools and techniques of science in her creative process to make art informed by printmaking. The artwork explores the relationship between art and science, specifically observation, experimentation, method and calibration. She is driven by the curiosity of how scientific process can be used to produce artwork that emphasizes creative aspects of the disciplines working together.
This began with the use of bacterial cultures and food dyes which developed further as an inspiration for mirroring the natural process and manipulating it to achieve desired outcomes. Through trial and error, the process has been refined using various methods to produce an effect that pays homage to the natural processes initially experimented with. This technique has led to the use of gelatine, ferro fluid, toner inks and selective exposure to produce a range of textures and colours.
‘Diversity in print’
To celebrate Creative Peninsula and August Craft Month 2018 our members are presenting work that shows the diversity and dynamism of printmaking and some of its many applications beyond the traditional fine art print.
Seacourt’s members have expertise in specialist printmaking techniques from photo intaglio and lithography to etching. The diversity of techniques and their application in art making and craft reminds us how accessible printmaking is – to learn and experiment with or to own and enjoy.
The work on show reflects this variety of working methods and the creativity of our Artists. Intricate 3D construction work using etching and screenprinting; Relief print on ceramics; Vibrant screenprinted textiles; Original screenprinted products to use or wear and original bespoke festival posters.
We hope you will enjoy this eclectic selection of work that truly shows the breadth and depth of the possibilities of printmaking.

‘Botanical Restoration’
Joanne fitzpatrick graduated from the Belfast school of Art in 2000 with a BA Hons Degree in Combined Studies in Art and Design – she specialises in Printmaking, Painting and Photography. She completed a PGCE in Art and Design at John Moore’s University in Liverpool and is currently Head of Art and Digital Arts at Hazelwood Integrated College in North Belfast.
Joanne is a relatively new artist member at Seacourt and she has experimented on a range of printing techniques and processes.
Her current exhibition in our Member’s Gallery ‘Botanical Restoration’ predominantly reflects the changes that have occurred in the Tropical Ravine in The Botanic Gardens, Belfast.
Joanne documents the light, space and texture, spontaneously recording the changes that unfold in the architecture and plants during this observance of the passing of time.
Mark making is prevalent throughout her work and she enjoys infusing and overlapping line. Joanne uses loose vibrant brush strokes in her Cyanotypes to enhance depth and to emulate the subtle complexity of the natural forms. Her aim is to provide an expressive painterly flow throughout her printmaking.

Fabrications: unravelling facts from folklore
CREATIVE PENINSULA 2019 with Susan Robinson
We are delighted to present an exhibition of new work from Susan Robinson as part of Creative Peninsula 2019. Fabrications examines the fine line between facts, fiction and folklore. Combining Screen- printing, Stitch, Knitting and Crochet, Robinson examines, embroiders and embellishes our understanding of memory and the human brain.
Where did the idea of ‘Woolly Thinking’ come from? How exactly does someone’s mind ‘Completely Unravel’? What is a ‘Hare-Brained Scheme’? How does one put ‘a Twist in the Tale’? This exhibition gathers all these curious threads to produce some rather imaginative Textile Art.
There are several opportunities for our audience to get creative in the gallery interactive exhibits:
Learn how to Spin your own ‘brainy’ yarn:
Have a go at spinning, knitting and crocheting while you visit the exhibition. Add your own ‘twists to the tale’ or put your on ‘hook’ on what the last person has done. Over the course of the exhibition will add these collaboratively-made ‘fabrications’ to the show.
In Stitches:
Spend five minutes or half an hour making your mark in stitch on our BIG BRAIN, a collaborative work that will grow over the course of the exhibition. Bring some fabric, buttons or threads or choose from our stash.

Borrowed tales by Clinton Kirkpatrick
FRIDAY 11th JANUARY – WEDNESDAY 6th FEBRUARY 2019
‘Borrowed Tales’ is an exhibition of printworks derived from on a series of narratives collected by Clinton from people of Kenya. The work explores the ancestral, the personal and the fictional and Clinton travelled across the country in 2016 recording the stories told to him along the way. The body of prints he created in response to these tales was presented back to the people in The Nairobi Museum in summer 2018 and were gifted back to the permanent collection.
The exhibition opens with a reception on Thursday 10th January at 7pm and runs until Wednesday 6th February 2019.
In Conversation – Clinton Kirkpatrick with Ann Donnelly
Tuesday 22nd January at 7pm
Ann Donnelly explores themes of being and belonging in solo practice and socially engaged practice. She often engages artists ‘in conversation’ about their practice to provide insight and share learning. Join us to hear Ann and Clinton discuss this body of work and its impact.

We are also offering opportunities for groups to spend some time at Seacourt Print Workshop, explore this work and experience printmaking. Contact Emma to discuss what your group would like to do and book a slot!

NEW DEADLINE Seacourt International Mini Print Biennial 2020
Due to Covid 19 closure we have extended our deadline for print submission until Monday 21ST SEPTEMBER.
Seacourt Print Workshop’s International Mini Print Biennial is an open Submission Exhibition. We encourage printmakers from all over the world to enter and look forward to seeing the prints from every corner of the globe.
In 2018 we had more than 140 entries from countries including Japan, Taiwan, Sweden, Ireland, and Iran, featuring a huge range of techniques and styles.
We’ve updated the dates for our exhibition and extended the declines due to the cv19 restrictions. This year’s biennial exhibition will now be on show in Seacourt Saturday 26TH SEPTEMBER until FRIDAY 6TH NOVEMBER.
Entry Fees are: Category A £20 per entrant and Category B £10 per entrant*
*for Artists from developing countries for developing countries on the list below.
