You will have an introduction to photo-etching using photopolymer intaglio techniques. A piece of original artwork (photograph, drawing, collage) is reproduced onto transparent or translucent film or paper and then exposed onto a light sensitive plate. The emulsion on the plate hardens where it is exposed and the softer areas are eaten away and will become the recesses which will hold the ink. Participants should bring a photographic or hand drawn image from which their plate will be prepared.

The parts that are left after carving are raised, creating a relief, which transfers to paper when inked. This workshop will introduce a range of mark making techniques, multi plate linoprinting, and working with different coloured inks.
Peter brown will take you through the processes from transferring your image, carving your plate, inking and printing your blocks on our colombian press and registration of multi colour plates.
